You guys asked for it, so here it is: Dawn’s trip to IKEA — the good, the bad, and the ugly.
The Good:
This part’s easy. She went with one of her girlfriends. That means I was spared from listening to ABBA on repeat, munching on suspiciously Swedish meatballs, and playing human pack mule for a bunch of stuff we absolutely do not need. That’s already a win.

But wait, there’s more! I later learned that IKEA was just the beginning. They also hit At Home, HomeGoods, Gabe’s (which apparently used to be Old Time Pottery — RIP), and Jared’s. That last one was enough to make me question whether staying home was the right call.
Good news from Jared’s: she just had her rings cleaned and inspected.
Bad news for her friend’s husband: she left with a brand new pair of earrings. Yikes.

The Bad:
She came home with bags. And I don’t mean a couple. I’m talking bags on bags, full of what she lovingly calls “treasures.” Let’s break it down:

Two seven-foot tall ghosts for the camper awning (Halloween starts early now).
Several yard decorations for Halloween, the campground we are staying at in October has a Trick or Treat night for the kids.
A new picture for the hallway in the camper. I didn’t even know we had a hallway in the camper, let alone a picture to replace.
A new centerpiece for the table when we’re set up.
Brand new rugs (plural).

And that’s all before she even pulls out… the IKEA bags.
This thing could hold a car. Inside? Enough storage containers to supply the USS Gerald R. Ford. I had no idea we had this many storage problems until we suddenly had solutions for all of them.

Most of them, I can kinda figure out. But then there are the mystery items. One looks like an octopus with a hook growing out of its head that you’re apparently supposed to hang clothes on. Then there’s a bear that holds toilet paper and has the creepiest eyes I’ve ever seen. I swear it follows you.

And finally: a swan that dispenses soap. Because nothing says “camping” like a fancy swan soap butler.

Honestly, with all the animal-themed accessories, the camper is starting to look like Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom — but with better rugs.

The Ugly:
Maybe the only real casualty here was the credit card. But when I see how happy she is and how cozy the camper now looks I’d say it’s all worth it.

Plus, let’s not forget the biggest win:
I didn’t have to go to any of the stores. Till next time.
